All-Shred = All Recycled

I pledge to recycle all paper products in the Iron Mountain Shredding Bins, including post-it notes and scrap paper. For more information, watch the Information Lifecycle Management Team's video on the program. Fact: recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees, 2 barrels of oil, 4,100 kilowatts of energy, 3.2 cubic yards of landfill space and 60 pounds of air pollution.

Unplug It!

I’ll unplug appliances and electronics when I’m not using them, because many will still draw electricity even when they are turned off. Even better I’ll connect multiple appliances (computers, printers, toasters, coffee makers, etc.) to a power strip I can turn off. This is estimated on average to save $100 a year on energy costs and 900 kwh of energy!

Smart and Easy Tips to Reduce Food Waste

Buy funny-looking produce. Many fruits and vegetables are thrown away because their size, shape, or colors don’t quite match what we think these items “should” look like. But for the most part these items are perfectly good to eat, and buying them at a farmer’s market or the grocery store helps use up food that might otherwise be tossed.

Easy Tips to Reduce Food Waste

Check in with your belly. Here it is, ladies and gentlemen: The solution to the “clean your plate!” issue. Simply take a moment to ask your body what it wants to eat, and how much — and then serve yourself that. Or simply start with less food on your plate. If you want more, you can always go back for it — but this way you won’t find out that you’re full and still have a heap of food in front of you. In fact, one study found that reducing portion sizes is an easy way to reduce food waste .

    Water saving tips

Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hosepipe. A hosepipe uses 1,000 litres of water an hour. Mulching your plants (with bark chippings, heavy compost or straw) and watering in the early morning and late afternoon will reduce evaporation and also save water.
